GOD'S POWER TO SUSTAIN US THROUGH ADVERSITY AND TROUBLE

Born again Christians are not immune from adversity and trouble. Such trails and tribulations are a natural part of the fallen, sin based world in which we live. When troubles come our way, God has said to consider such matters as an opportunity for great joy. For we know that our faith is being tested and our endurance extends when given a chance to grow - James 1:2-3. Such growth pains are often difficult, however, through hard times we build and strengthen our "faith" muscles. The wise are cautious and avoid danger; fools plunge ahead with reckless confidence - Proverbs 14:16. No matter our lot in life, when our faith and confidence rest in God, we are wise and blessed! For He is our strength, our rock and fortress, our deliver and high tower - Psalm 18:2.
One of my favorite scriptures is Proverbs 3:6, which tell us when we acknowledge God in all our ways, He directs our paths making our way straight. What a steadfast assurance this is. For in our distress, as we cry out to the Lord; and pray for help, He hears us - Psalm 18:6. Jesus said, "Come onto me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest" - Matthew 11:28. In both the Old and New Testaments, we read of spiritual believers who put their faith in God. Adversity came to them, as such does to us. We gleam knowledge from their witness and personal testimonies which serve to remind us that the Lord is good, being a strong refuge when in trouble, as He draws us close to His purpose and plan - Nahum 1:7.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF FAITH:
DANIEL 3:16-20 - SHADRACH, MESHACK, AND ABEDNEGO, FACED A BLAZING FURNACE SET BY KING NEBUCHADNEZZAR, YET TRUSTED IN GOD TO SEE THEM THROUGH.
"O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us....But even if He doesn't, we want to make it clear...we will never serve you gods or worship the gold statue you have set up." When thrown into the furnace, all viewed them and a forth man, walking around unharmed, as God saved them for a higher purpose and plan. By way of their deliverance, the mighty God of Shadrackm Meshack, and Abednego, was proclaimed throughout the land by king Nebuchadnezzar.
MARK 6:14-29, MATTHEW 14, KING HEROD HAD JOHN THE BAPTIST BEHEADED.
Not all saints of God are delivered from dire harm. Many suffered horrific deaths, as did John the Baptist, when king Herod ordered his head cut off. When we can't trace God's hand in such matters, we can always trust His heart. God's ways are not our ways, His thoughts not our thoughts - Isaiah 55:8. No matter our course, when we allow God to guide us according to His counsel, we are assured of a glorious destiny - Psalm 73:24. By the power of the Cross, we know death has no sting - 1 Corinthians 15:55.
A STEADFAST PROMISE FROM GOD:
The Lord has proclaimed, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you, and watch over you"- 1 John 3:8. As we trust in Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith, we know that all things will work out for our good, and the saving of many souls - Romans 8:28; Genesis 50:20.
